Periodontal Therapy
What Is it?
Periodontal disease is one of the main reasons that people lose their teeth. It is caused by the build up of plaque, tartar and bacteria in the mouth. This tartar build up above and below the gums then leads to inflammation. Our bodies then respond to the inflammation and try to fight against it, and in the process destroy the bone around the teeth. This can then lead to mobility of a few or several teeth and eventually to tooth loss. Losing teeth can then be a costly battle in terms of replacement with implants, bridges, or even partial or full dentures.
