Endodontics - Root Canal Therapy
Endodontics- Root Canal Therapy
Cavities can grow quickly or slowly, and they usually do not hurt until the cavity has reached the nerve of the tooth. This is when a tooth begins to feel sensitive to temperatures, biting, or even has unprovoked pain. Sometimes a cavity can be very close to a nerve and not cause a problem until the tooth is opened up and the cavity is found to be right into the nerve! It is at this point that you may be in need of a Root Canal, or Endodontic therapy.
Why It Matters
The affected, or infected, nerve in the tooth, if left untreated will eventually cause discomfort, aching, throbbing and can even lead to a dental abscess. The way to treat this problem is to gently clean the nerve out of the tooth. This will get rid of the discomfort, treat the infected tooth and bone, and allow that tooth to heal, and help you avoid losing your tooth! If you are experiencing symptoms such as sensitivity to temperatures, aching or throbbing, come in for an exam today so we can help you avoid an infection, or even losing your tooth.
